Department: Construction Maintenance Shop
Status: Full Time
Base Rate: $25-$38 depending on experience
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri: Day Shift
Benefits: 1st of the month following 30 days
Reports To: Equipment Maintenance Manager
Travel: May be required to travel
POSITION SUMMARY
Mechanic position will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing various types of equipment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- 90-BIT inspections
- DOT- inspections
- Electrical charging/ starting/ lighting
- Diagnosis of mechanical/ hydraulic problems
- Testing/ repairing air brakes systems
- Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing.
- Maintains equipment functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
- Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

**California Driver’s License A or B is plus**
3+ years of experience
**** Must be able to repair all types of transportation equipment: gas and diesel
- Perform maintenance and repair of various types of mobile construction equipment
- Have knowledge of using hand tools and portable power tools
- Possess strong technical knowledge of mechanical equipment
- Ability to travel
- Comply with the safety standards and precautionary measures while at work site
- Experience and considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of various types of heavy equipment and other power driven equipment and tools
- Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions
- Ability to analyze and repair mechanical failures
- Ability to work effectively and establish good working relationships with other employees
- High School diploma or equivalent required
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Employee required to remain on his or her feet in an upright position for continuous periods of time
- Employee required to walk considerable distances in the facility and on job site
- Employee required to raise or lower objects from one level to another regularly during the shift 50 to 100 pounds
- Employee required, on a regular basis, to carry objects over 80 pounds
- Employee required, on a regular basis, to push and pull 80 pounds
- Employee regularly picks up objects with fingers
- Employee regularly holding concrete pound pump hose for continuous periods of time
- Employee regularly required to use the hands and arms to reach for objects
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical assignments frequently require that work be completed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Exposure to dirt and dust is routine and may require the use of protective clothing and respirators
- Some jobs require an employee to work in an environment that involves exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes and odors
